As RRHA helps to advance efforts to transform Richmond into a Tier One City, RRHA, The City of Richmond and The Community Builders continue to engage residents, business, civic and community leaders in efforts for planning for the revitalization of the East End. For RRHA, this includes the Creighton/Nine Mile Road/Whitcomb/Eastview corridors through the collaborative East End Transformation Effort. At community-oriented planning meetings, led in part by master developer The Community Builders Inc., business, civic leaders and residents continue to share their collective vision for a new, improved community that will include mixed-income housing , mixed-finance and commercial improvements with an additional focus on increased educational, economic development, transportation and health opportunities for residents.
This holistic effort reflects the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Choice Neighborhoods three key areas of impact: Housing, People, and Neighborhoods.
Transforming distressed public housing into energy efficient, attractive, mixed income housing
Supporting positive outcomes in health, education, safety and employment for residents of public and privately-owned housing
Converting poverty areas into mixed income, healthy communities with viable schools, services, and access to jobs
Through this East End Transformation, RRHA’s goal is to provide effective and affordable housing and quality of life solutions that will positively impact residents and entire neighborhoods in the vital areas of education, commercial and economic development, employment, health, transportation and parks and recreation and quality housing.
