RRHA Hosts First-time Homebuyer Event for Public Housing Families

Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RRHA) will host a first-time homebuyer’s event on Saturday, June 25, 2022, from 10 AM–1 PM.

Transportation will be provided for the first 15 RRHA public housing residents that sign up!

The event will feature organizations such as Southside Community Development Corporation, Project Homes, Habitat for Humanity, Better Housing Coalition, the Maggie Walker Land Trust, Center Creek Builders, and more.

It will be held at 1616 North 28th Street, Richmond VA, a single-family home recently constructed by RRHA partner, Project Homes, in the Churchill area.

Although the event is open to the public, RRHA is specifically targeting public housing residents and voucher holders. The event is designed to inform and educate public housing residents and voucher holders on the process of becoming a homeowner.

Housing partners will share information about how to start the homebuying process; affordable homeownership programs; down payment grants; homebuyer education programs; and more.

There will also be multiple homes by RRHA partner agencies available for open house tours. Addresses to these locations will be provided at the event.

Transportation will be provided to and from the event for RRHA families and a bus tour of available homes in the area will be given to the first 15 public housing residents that sign up. Residents will meet at 9:30 AM in front of the Creighton Court Management Office at 2101 Creighton Road, Richmond VA. RRHA families who are interested should register by June 20 at forms.gle/FjYyd9tSCb8AJcK48.

“We are excited to highlight June as National Homeowners month, by offering public housing residents and housing choice voucher holders an opportunity to see what’s available and get them started with the information and tools necessary to position themselves to be homeowners.”
