Richmond Police Department Hosts “State of the Teen Union” to Empower Youth and Address Critical Issues

The Richmond Police Department’s Community Youth Intervention Services (CYIS) Unit is proud to present the State of the Teen Union, a groundbreaking event dedicated to amplifying the voices of Richmond’s youth while addressing critical issues such as education, youth violence, and mental health.

This free, one-day event will take place on March 31, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Virginia Union University Living and Learning Center (1500 N. Lombardy St.), providing a dynamic and engaging experience for teens to connect with community leaders, participate in interactive breakout sessions, and access resources that support their success.

Curated by RPD’s CYIS Unit, the event will feature live performances, music by MPO F. El-Amin and DJ Phalie, food by Frozay RVA, and a special presentation from the DEA’s “One Pill Can Kill” initiative. The event is designed to reflect a modern, and approachable atmosphere, ensuring teens feel empowered, heard, and inspired.

“This event is about more than conversation—it’s about action. We’re creating a platform where teens can speak their truth, engage
with leaders who are ready to listen and walk away with the tools they need to thrive,” said Dargenaba Anderson, RPD’s CYIS
Coordinator.
